Have wonderful old brass bed (double size) that I would like to modify to accommodate a queen size box spring and mattress. Has anyone done this? Any ideas? Thanks!

You could widen it by by attaching nice turned wooden posts on each side. These can be bought in the fencing dept. at Home Depot. You can paint or stain them, whatever your other furniture is.

Thank you for the suggestions but this doesn't answer my question because I'd like to modify the frame (underneath the mattress) and not alter the appearance of the brass headboard. Looking for some type of support underneath box springs using existing bed rails etc.
