Cheryl on Oct 14, 2016Yes, you need to sand them. If you do not, the new paint will not stick. I redid mine a few years ago and sanded them, first.Helpful Reply

William on Oct 14, 2016Lightly sand to remove any gloss and a tooth for new paint. Prime with KILZ, BIN, or Zinsser. Then paint you color.Helpful Reply

Chris Kachel on Oct 14, 2016Yes, sand first then paint first coat an undercoat like Kilz, then top coat with at least 1 maybe two coats of your colorcoat depending on the coverage.Helpful Reply

Molly F on Oct 14, 2016definitely sand them and then sometimes you need to go over with something else like Kilz - we did our old wood work and not only would the latex not stick but we had to sand, use liquid sandpaper and then prime - or it would just peel right off againHelpful Reply

Jennifer Weber Ferguson on Oct 21, 2016You need to do a light sanding to create a tooth and use an Oil Based Primer - allow this to dry based on recommendations on the can you use and then you can use a waterbased/borne product. But you have to use an oil based primer first - this allows you to transition back to waterbased products.Helpful Reply
