Redoing cabinet?

Have a tall corner cabinet, I want to paint it and maybe put curtains up on it. It has three shelves and doors on the bottom. My dining room and kitchen doesn't have a certain color. What color is good to bring it out. Would it look funny?

There are countless cabinets with shelves and doors on the bottom.

Please post a picture so that we can see what you are starting with.

Please post a picture so we can see the room and a view of the tall cabinet, that way you will get the best advice on what to do with what you have.

Also you could take sample paint color cards from Home Depot or Lowes and see if anything would look good.

Tan, grey, white and greens are neutrals that go with anything. Not sure about the curtains though. Would be looking more for doors than curtains even see thru like chicken wire.

Hello Sallydunham2, I would pick a color that I want to pop, so if you have some blue that you like or peach, etc, chose that color to paint or a color that compliments the color you like the most. I love grey as a neutral color, but pick something you really like!

HI there! I agree that I would also pick a color that would pop. For our kitchen its RED! We have a red island and red accessories and love how it brings out all of our white cabinets etc.

open cabinets are all the rage right now so you may want to paint it then add some pretty dishes, bowls, etc to give more color to the kitchen

I agree with Em, regarding neutral colors. But you could also accent the back of the cabinets with pretty wallpaper. If you have a Habitat for Humanity in your area, they sell doors very cheap and maybe putting doors on would be a nice solution.

  • I would paint it white and match the hardware to the hardware in the kitchen. The curtains you could get a pattern that goes with the theme of the room or you could change seasonally, which could be fun!

Depending on what look you are trying to achieve, you could go with a pop of color like yellow or turquoise. For a farmhouse look, red with gingham check curtains. More sophisticated would be like navy with a dark glaze.

I think that would be fine. My dining room furniture is mostly wood that is stained but I have a cabinet that had to be painted due to the poor wood quality. It was first white but I recently changed it to red with black on the shelves.
