Resurfacing kitchen countertop

Have one of those grooved countertops that has to be scrubbed with a brush to get dirt completely out. Want to resurface instead of replacing. Wondered if there is some kind of clear epoxy-type material, safe for food of course, that would fill in the grooves to make it smooth. Thanks in advance.

Do you know what sort of material your countertop is made of? That might make a difference as to what type of sealer you could use. If you are not sure what it is made of, could you possibly post a picture of it and we may be able to give you some ideas.

There are a variety of epoxy's for bar tops that may suit your needs although they are a little pricey but no where near the cost of replacing the counter tops, one such product is http://www.bestbartopepoxy.com/ that seems to be food safe as it lists counter tops as a possible application.

I think it is laminate. I know it has a vinyl like texture.
