Sealing or coating wood table- Any ideas would be appreciated!
I am trying to finish an old side table. I tried the sealer for wood and the wood looked darker on edges and splotchy all over. It's soft white birch wood. I sanded the edges with 320 and the top to 220 . After stripping the sealer off I am at a loss on what to coat it with. I want the wood to show, but not splotchy . Any ideas from you all would be appreciated!

Hello, In my opinion, you would need to sand it all with the same grit sandpaper as it roughs it up differently with the different grits so the stain will take differently. I would go over the whole thing with 220 grit.
