Advice on why my table top epoxy and glue is still white?

hi all,

I recently took on the project on resurfacing my coffee table. I had glittered the surface with mod podge. Then glued down a bunch of flat back glass gems With elmer'S white glue. Yesterday I poured the epoxy over it. I used is super glaze. Much to my dismay, as I started to pour noticed that the glue under a few of the clear stones wasn't totally dry! They look white. The table seems be hardening just fine. It's been about 24 hours and it's solid. Going to leave it for at least 72. But the glue still isn't dry. Will this be white forever now?

  • My best guess is yes it may remain white as it did not have enough time to properly air dry. Then you poured the epoxy on top which effectively cuts off any and all air flow to dry naturally.

Not to worry though, from the photos it still looks way cool, and once you have accessorized, no one will probably notice - or just think it was an intended part of your design. Go with the flow as they say! I still think it looks beautiful. Next project, give the glue ample time to dry. Or use a clear contact cement type product and a pair of rubber tipped tweezers for placement of any small items.

If it bothers you , next time use E6000. I love the look of this project though , great job!

i think you're both right about the glue. Funny thing is, I actually started with e6000. Got about half way through the table before I ran out. Figured what the heck I'm just trying to reduce air bubbles elmers will work. I may end up doing the end tables to match at a later time. I'll definitely stick with the clear stuff that time. And make sure it's 100% before covering. thank all for your help, and kind words.
