Does anyone know anything about this fab & quirky old chair?

I fell in love with this chair when I saw it advertised for sale locally... Only $40.00. I was curious if any of the awesome Hometalk folks out there might know anything about the age or name of the particular style. It is a very heavy and well-made chair. A big ol' southern "thanks" in advance !
My children thought I was crazy to buy such an odd and ugly chair. However, I absolutely adore this chair ! I plan to recover it with a bright and fun fabric.

I love the chair AND the pink color! I think this is from the 30s. A friend of mine found a sofa and chair in an old barn and spent a fortune getting the wood repaired and recovered! It was stunning!

From one Southern gal to another, thank you so much for your response. I was thinking maybe the 30s also, but wasn't sure. I hope it's cooler in Atlanta than it is down here in the southwest area of our state.

My first thought was the same as Jeanette's. The 30's. It's beautiful.

The chair is great. AND if you haven't gotten your answer yet (re its backstory), you might want to try MulberryStreetOnline @ https://www.facebook.com/pages/MulberryStreetOnline/122260474526863?fref=pb. Tell her (Amy) that you heard about her from The Last Leaf gardener.

Absolutely love this chair. I found one similar at a yard sale, the lady tried to sell me the chair beside it. I finished it and it is very comfortable. They made chairs back then for short people I am tall with long legs but still comfortable. Good find.

A very big THANK ALL OF Y'ALL who have responded... and please accept my humble apology for the delay in responding to those who posted about the chair in December. If any of you have suggestions for new upholstery, I would greatly appreciate that as well. I'm considering something unexpected, like a HaPpY, bright, and bold print. I LOVE MY 30'S CLUB CHAIR! Thanks to all!
