My travel scooter seat was getting shabby. The vinyl takes a beating from being put in and taken out of the car trunk over five years. I decided to make a seat cover for it. I neglected to take photos until the finished product.icon
I went to the Salvation Army thrift store and found a purple sweatshirt and a matching T shirt. I could not believe my good fortune at finding a T shirt in the exact same color!!! I cut off the sleeves of the sweatshirt to make arm covers. I sewed a hem on each end and ran elastic through to gather the ends I sewed the arm holes together after cutting the sleeves off and sewed the neck hole together too. It just slides right over the back of the seat. I used my sewing machine, but this could be sewed by hand too if you don't have a machine. I guess hot glue or iron on tape could be an option as well.
Since this is a travel scooter that comes apart to go in the trunk of the car, the bottom of the seat has a post and a handle. I slit the T shirt up the middle of the back to make an opening for the handle and post. I attached velcro to the edges to keep it together. The bottom hem of the T shirt is at the back of the seat, so I attached velcro to the front and back of the shirt hem as well to keep the shirt in place.
This is the back of the sweatshirt that covers the seat. I loved the picture on it! I claim it's me since I am a blue eyed blonde!!! LOL!!!icon
This is a close up of the picture on the back of the shirt. I am going to start looking for a Christmas sweatshirt and a T shirt to go with it to make a Christmas themed cover. I ride alongside the church float in the town Christmas Parade.
This is from 2016.
