Cait from Little City Farmhouse experimented creating a unique finish with our newest product, Texture Powder! Come find out more about how she created this beautiful look with Rustic Charm, Bliss, Luna, and Pocket Watch.
Hello Country Chic fans!

It’s always exciting when Country Chic brings out new projects – it means there’s a lot of fun happening in the shop!

Texture powder is something I had never worked with before. I decided to really go for it and do something with a lot of depth and colour to really bring out the texture.
I started by mixing the texture powder into my paint. My base coat was Rustic Charm mixed with texture powder in a nearly 1:1 ratio. The consistency ended up being like thick pudding. I applied it very liberally and in no particular method – a mixture of strokes and dabs – until i was satisfied with the coverage. When it had dried about 15-20 minutes I went back over it with a plastic putty knife with very little to no pressure and knocked down the peaks. I let it dry fully overnight.
For the topcoat I wanted a bright but light turquoise. I mixed 3 parts Luna with 1 part Bliss – Luna was the all-in-one formula and Bliss the chalk formula. They mixed and worked perfectly together. I painted one coat of the mixture (about 1/3 of a cup total) over the table, not worrying about solid coverage.
When it was dry, I sanded it with 120 grit sandpaper to really emphasis the texture and the green underneath. I took it down to the wood (the texture powder mixture sands great!) in places to give it a really worn look.
When it was done it looked great but felt a bit flat. I highlighted just certain places with Pocket Watch Metallic Cream with a dry brush method. I went back and added more gold in certain places.

I was really curious how the Texture Powder would look on furniture. It’s an amazing product, so easy to use, and adds instant age and interest. I’ll definitely be keeping this on hand in the shop!
