The Beautiful Truth About Thrift and Dollar Stores

I have a new found love of thrift and dollar store. I was on the quest to find a chair for a planter, but quickly changed my mind...see how I transformed this thrift store chair and made a beautiful matching wreath from Dollar store flowers.

The thrift store chair
I had a budget in mind for this project not to spend more than $15.00. This chair was scored at the local thrift store for $5.00. It had a beautiful cane seat except it had a tear at the back. It was repaired and then the paint project began.
It has been transformed with paint
The ugly duckling chair has now been transformed into great Florida colors! The teals, reds, greens, and oranges are so bright and cheerful. A coat of varnish paint covers the whole chair, including the cane seat.
It found a new home beside the buffet!
I could not bear to leave it outdoors as the original plan had been. It now sits right beside my thrift store makeover side buffet. The wreath was made from flowers from the dollar store. My first thoughts were to leave it outside so I didn't want to spend a lot on flowers. For a total of $10.00 the wreath was made. A butterfly hanger was used to anchor the wreath to the front of the chair. Has anyone else ever changed the intended purpose of their makeover item?
The new setting!
I guess I will just have to be on the quest for a new old chair for the planter!
