Decided to bring life back to these, well used but solid, Mid Century Modern pieces. So I brought out my handy dandy Unicorn SPiT and this was the final result...The Navajo Jewel, because it reminds me of those beautiful blankets.
I started off by lightly sanding everything, making sure there was no shiny areas and smooth to the touch. Cleaned with mild soap and water and let dry completely.
Next I covered with Kilz paint and primer in 'Luminous Blue' and let that dry completely.
Now begins the fun part, adding and playing with your Unicorn SPiT. I started with the three left drawers and lightly misted water on, then put on the SPiT in uniform lines. You will then use a chip brush (slightly wet) and brush it one direction only, move up by slightly overlapping each color. Have a rag handy to wipe off brush as you move to each new color. Repeat technique for remaining drawers.
Next I added the SPiT randomly on top of dresser, then used the same technique with brush as I did with drawers, remember to wipe off brush with rag with each drag. Once I was satisfied with the result, I let my pieces dry over night. Once completely dry, I used 'Rust-Oleum's Triple-Thick Polyurethane'.
