Updated Wood Canisters

My mom bought me some wood canisters as a gift knowing I love to give new life to old unloved wood pieces, big or small. This set went thru a few transformations before becoming an aged soft grey set ready for years of use.
Here is the set all scrubbed up and dry ready to be painted, they have plastic liners that were removed for these steps.
I started with Homestead House milk paint in refrew blue as the base color
with Homestead House loyalist as a dry brushed color over it to give an old denim look but there was a few issues typical with milk paint
it began to crackle loads on all the lids and only 1 side of each canister.. even with bonding agent and sanding there still was an inconsistent look I was just not feeling. The solution was to wash the canisters clean - something you can do with natural milk paint, and start over
this time I went with Fusion Mineral paint in putty giving each surface, the bottom and the inside and underside edges on the lids
sanding with a sanding sponge aged them even more, I hand painted the carved words in dark grey but again did not feel it so repainted over and left as just a subtle ghost look to the labels
I added black wax for dimension and here they are ready for use!
