Eryn Garcia from Breath of Life Designs, creates the perfect crackled piece.

This little sewing table has been in Eryn's family for awhile. She figured it would be a good time to give it a "new" look.

She decided to keep it looking old and worn. In order to achieve this look Eryn wanted to experiment with Dixie Belle Crackle. She wanted to create that chippy look, but with chalk mineral paint.

In order to keep the crackle/chippiness sporadic and natural looking, Eryn applied the Crackle on the corners, edges, and other places that would naturally get worn down.

After that had cured for 24 hours, she then applied a coat of Drop Cloth. Once the paint dried, she could begin to see where the crackle took place. Although it did it's job, Eryn wanted it to be a little less prominent. She then touched up certain areas with another coat of Drop Cloth.

Then the fun part, distressing...

First she distressed the piece heavily with a small paint scraper. After she felt the piece was distressed enough, Eryn applied Satin Clear Coat.

Who knew you could create that classic, chippy look with Dixie Belle Chalk Paint?
