No more knotty pine

by Decor&Dine
I have a lot of pine furniture from the 90's...that is all I could afford back them. Painting these pieces with Annie Sloan Chalk paint has given new life to them. I love how this pine chest of drawers looks now. When painting pine remember to shellac the knots so that they do not bleed through the paint.

Can you explain the shellac the knots in the knotty pine?

@Connie Hofstatter before you paint with the chalk paint, if the wood has knots like pine does you need to cover those knots with shellac so that they do not bleed through the chalk paint. Just buy a small can of shellac at your local hardware store.

Thank you, I wasn't sure if that was before or after. I have knotty pine cabinets in my laundry room I would like to paint.

@Connie Hofstatter make sure you cover the knots well. I painted a unit for my TV last fall and I am starting to see the knots coming through. I used spray shellac instead of the liquid shellac that I used on my other furniture. I don't think the spray cover as well as the brushed on liquid.
