Advice on drawer color

Finishing up my dogwood library table and need advice on the drawer color. The top of the table is very close to the skirt around the drawers. I had the drawers much darker, but didn't like it so I removed some of the stain. Do you think this color on the drawers looks ok with the overall look of the table?

Another view of the table, however, the top of this is not the accurate color -- this is showing much blonder than what it actually is. The first picture shows the true color.

That table is beautiful. I would definitely match the drawers with the legs as the main focus is the top.

Definitely the drawers should match the legs. Makes the piece cohesive and draws the eye towards the top. It is a beautiful piece!

I would like to see the bottom in black!

Black is a mourning colour... Perhaps just a darker brown than you have already. But definitely a darker colour than the feature top.

Same color even if you decided to paint. BTW it is beautiful.

I would put smaller dogwoods on the front of the drawers. It would make the piece more cohesive.

The first thing I thought of was that you should paint the whole bottom black like Lori said in her comment BUT then I started to picture a smaller version of the top on the front of the drawers (maybe branch with just leaves) like Rebecca suggested. Either way definitely paint the rest black. What a great piece! Love your work!!

Wow the top is beautiful! How did you do that? Was it a stencil or freehand? stain or paint? Wood burned? I'm totally intrigued! I agree that maybe doing some small dogwood flowers on the drawers would be gorgeous. My thoughts on the rest of the bottom is an Annie Sloan paint in Graphite. Not quite black and such a rich color! I used that on an old chair I found at a garage sale for $5 and it turned into a chair that looks like a $300 chair!

@Karen Powell Thanks, karen!!! I would love to see your finished pieces when you get done. I too like to create art out of pieces people are tired of or getting rid of ; however, I have made the mistake of buying a piece that wasn't well made. When it was all said and done, I wanted to kick myself because I put soooo much time into it and knew that it really wasn't a good quality piece :( So, now I try to find better pieces.

Wow I know other said that but way to go I love it. What about adding some metallic accents in gold or silver you could use a rub on product or a paint on some of the accent areas of the turnings or the edge of the draw it would bring them out and make it all shine you could even add it to the edge of the table top. Hope you do more thanks for sharing. Did you answer the question how you did it? I would love to know. Hope this helps. Teresa

@Thank You Mechcraft5 Thanks Teresa! I did answer the question, but just to direct you to some videos. I warn you in advance, it was my first time doing the video so they aren't the best and you will have to turn up your volume. There are 3 videos, the first is a quick time lapse, the other two are the tutorials. You can see them here: http://www.mmembellishments.com/#!videos/nyaqk Good idea on the metallics... I do love my rub n buff! BTW, I do have other pieces I have done like this - you can check out my posts to see them. Thanks again!!!
