Any suggestions for wall color?

I am having a hard time finding wall color. I will be repainting ceiling and putting in new lighting. Current color seems too yellow.

The first thing I would do in this kitchen would be to paint the cabinets white .

Maybe more of a buff / cream color. Also consider painting base cabinets to match upper cabinets or visa versa. . Then you would have less colors going on. White ceiling.

  • From the photo, it looks rather dark. Maybe choose a light, bright color that compliments any room that the kitchen spills into.

Very dark kitchen. You need to paint the cabinets also. Can't tell from the picture is that your wall color or a backsplash under the cabinets? You to lowe's get a 4x8 piece of paneling (they have interesting patterns), cut to size and attach for a new backsplash. They have a nice barnwood paneling that would look great with white of light colored cabinets it would look like a new kitchen.

I hate to pile on, but I have to agree with the other Hometalkers. Selecting a new wall color is not going to change much of anything. The dark cabinets, dark backsplash, dark countertops are just too much. White or light gray cabinets (uppers and lowers) and a lighter backsplash would look great. Then choose wall paint to coordinate. Best wishes.

Why so dark? And why did you leave dark cabinets on the bottom? I would paint the walls and all of the bottom wood cabinets a gray-blue or gray-pink color. Even the ceiling. And a chandelier would be a crowning touch. ☺️

If you decide to leave the cabinets the way they are then at least paint the backsplash and the walls a light color. My suggestion would be a very light grey or gray blue. It looks like the backsplash could be metal, if so you could paint it a reflective silver or use stainless steel paint. You could also paint the fridge with stainless steel paint. Anything to lighten it all up, maybe even paint the knobs silver.

Enough with everyone else's opinion! You asked about wall color. The answer is: find a theme. You've got browns, reds, black, silver and whatever color your floor is. Find a paint that will unify instead of trying to pop all by itself. I would find the MOST neutral color that goes with everything and make sure that it's darker than the ceiling but not by too much. The reason (I think) that your space looks dark in this photo is all that light coming in from the windows. Also consider painting that window over the sink the wall color, too. It might make a big difference. Have fun!

You need to brighten the room color since your cabinets are so dark. I suggest the lightest cream, yellow or salmon color in a semi- gloss finish that will reflect light....and a semi-gloss ceiling paint in a bright white or cream. I also suggest that you use light bulbs in a bright white LED glow for additional brightness. Choose curtains, rugs and accessories in bright colors that pop.

Since you asked, I'm with a lot of others that answered your question. I don't think the wall color is you biggest problem. I personally don't like stark white cabinets, I would go with a cream color for all of the cabinets. I would also lighten up the backsplash. A white ceiling and a light aqua for the walls would look nice and give it a new look and feel. Some undercabinet lighting would also help.

I like your cabinets! I don't understand the obsession to have all kitchens look the same. I do agree that the yellow is to bright and is competing with your cabinets. Your ceiling is white, great for reflecting light. I would suggest keeping your walls in the white-ivory family. It's like an art gallery they always have white walls to allow the paintings to be the focal point. Light clean walls will let your cabinets to really shine.

It looks like you may need to lighten things up a little. I would paint it white to get rid of the yellow look. :)

Without repainting the cabinets....I would go with a cooler color on the walls...white I think would be too stark...I would prob go with a grey with blue undertones.
