Do you have any tips on painting kitchen countertops?
I want to paint my kitchen countertops but I have no idea what I’m doing! It’s Formica that has been there since the 70’s. It actually looks good to be that old but the color is very outdated. I would really appreciate any tips on this project. I don’t even know what kind of paint to use! Thanks.

Sharon: If it looks good, why paint? Just update everything around it -- like paint cabinets, declutter countertops, and use accent colors(in curtains/linens) to complement the counter!
I guess I should have said it’s still in good shape to be as old as it is instead of it looks good! I am just really tired of the color. It matches nothing. We have already painted the cabinets, walls, and did other updates. I was leaving this until the last. Thank you for your input!
My aunt sanded her white Formica countertops down lightly and stained it with an oak color then polyurethaned over it! It looks brand new!
