Hello. Yes you can. Even use it over hardware on furniture items.
Here’s a link for an example—that might be helpful.

Yes you can!
Hi Linda, hope this answers your question about using chalk paint on metal. YES You can use it on walls, floors, wood, concrete, metal, matt plastic, earthenware, brick, stone and more – inside or outside. You can even use it to paint upholstery and dye fabric. Chalk Paint® produces extensive coverage approx 13.9 sq metres per litre (equivalent to a small dresser) and one coat is usually enough.

It will easily rub off. Ask your paint supplier for oil base paint for metal if there's a chance of it having any friction rubbing on it. If it's just an ornament going to hang on the wall or such-like, then I would chance the chalk paint!
There is good information here:

If it is for an inside project it will work well, but if it is for an outdoor project it will not stand up to the weather.
Yes you can. Remember, most any paint can be scraped off metal.
Yes but I use spray paint
Hi Linda, you absolutely can. Annie Sloan Chalk paint (true chalk paint, no latex) works beautiful on metal and will stick to pretty much anything. If you are using a chalk "style" paint though, remember that most of those are latex so will generally require you to prime it first.
In my experience it does not work. You will be able to scratch it off with your nail. Use a spray paint for metal for better results.
You can but I have found that it is much better to go with a metal formulated product like RustOleum.
I think it would be best to use spray paint on metal.
Hi Linda, hope this helps you, yes you can
