I painted a bedroom set with chalk paint this winter but it is already chipping. Can i paint over it with latex? or should I paint over with chalk paint and use a different finish instead of the wax?

The chalkpaint will need to to be sanded to create teeth for the latex to grab onto. Paint away and happy decorating!

2 coats of primer, allow a lot of time to dry in between coats or you can purchase one of the specially formulated "extreme hide" paints on the market. (pricey)

I always use a clear coat after the chalkpaint and wax have set. I hate to sand and as Charline said if you are going to use latex paint you will need to sand.

Kriss I'm sorry I just noticed my reply did not go through. Yes or at least in my opinion clear coat over the wax.

I have not had any problems so far and the first piece i did was almost 3 yrs ago.

Most projects require a good primer first. The paint chips off when it is not adhering to the undercoat. I would sand it off, clean well and use a paint deglosser, if necessary, and then proceed with the primer and the finish coat.
