Yes you can! I made my own chalk paint with 1 c black latex exterior paint (already had), 1 c plaster of paris and 1 c water. Painted the panel of pantry door. After it dried I was able to write and draw on it. Good Luck!

Yes! I would say that it's not exactly like writing on a good old chalkboard but you can write on it.
Yes! though it is my understanding that before using the newly painted area, you are supposed to "season" it by running a piece of chalk over it (parallel) and erase it. In that way when you do actually write on it with the chalk, it will easily wipe off in the future. If you don't do this, then what you first write on, will always show through. Hope this makes sense to you!

You are welcome. I failed to mention the “seasoning” step but it is an important one. Take a piece of your chalk sideways and cover your board then wipe off. You will be
