Can you mix Gloss Varathane with Semi-gloss Varathane (for floors)?
Refinishing floors. The Gloss V for floors is too shiny. The Semi-gloss version is too dull. Can the two be mixed to get the degree of shine I'm after.

HI Marion yep you can mix the same product with different sheens. Just make sure to mix it REALLY well.
It should work. But Iโd highly recommend doing a small sample test spot somewhere inconspicuous first - say in a closet.
Mixing the two VERY well is key. If they don't mix properly, you could find yourself with random sheen patches, or just a whole table covered in a rubbery, sticky goop that never dries.
As long as they are same in all other aspects, yes. I would recommend getting a larger container and using a drill to blend thoroughly.
Yes, you really need to make sure you mix them really really well!
I would call a local paint store and inquire. If you bought the products from them, they might even offer to mix if for you, if it's appropriate.
When I looked into this the common response was mixing these two would not give you a big difference in the shine - in fact some of the reviews says it is not even noticeable!

Hello Marion,
Mix a tiny bit of each and try it on a piece of wood somewhere out of the way to see if it gives you the desired effect!
You can do that, but make sure you mix enough to do your floors. If you have to try and add more the sheen might turn out different.
Hi Marion, hope this link helps you out, maybe a happy medium in here for you,

Yes, just make sure you make enough for the entire job.
You'd have to experiment with different ratios of each. Use plastic cups for your samples. Write down how much of each you mixed so you get the right sheen.
definitely do a test patch first to make sure it's not going to get weird!
Hi! Did you try their website? I would think you could, and, I have been known to mix things and try them on smaller things first. I have learned to keep track of the ratio I tried, so that I can duplicate the mix when I end up needing more. Good luck!
Hello. I suggest calling the manufacturer for the best advice.
They will be flattening agents in the less glossy formulations and sometimes there might be a different consistency that might be difficult to mix and replicate.
It is possible they might suggest putting one gloss coat on followed by another matte coat for more even application.
I would try it and test on spare wood to see the outcome.
It's always best to test it on a spare piece of wood first.
Sure you can mix them, so long as they are both of the same type, water based and water based together and oil and oil together.
