Not unless it's wood. The poly will not stick to vinyl. However, you can caulk the seams to make a really tight seal. Use a silicone caulk, wipe excess with a scraper before it dries.
I agree! No need. It already has a protective finish from the factory.
I would not recommend this. We have done stick and peel and it actually wears very, very well.
