I would sand it and varnish it
I don't know what kind of decor you have, but if I had that piece, it would be painted a dusty rose, like the color in the marble. It's a very nice piece and should have attention;)
I would use a light colored stain and poly to keep as much of it's originality as possible
If you're certain that it's all wood, including the furled trimwork, then honestly, I'd leave it just the way it is!! If you want to protect the wood somehow, just rub some (untinted? ) oil into the wood, maybe, and slap that marble table-top on there. Good luck. What a find! Just for information, is that bottom supposed to sit on the floor as shown, or attached to a wall?
Friend put a dummy hock on the side of hers.....worked
wrong question sorry
This is one time I would go backwards on the colors. Since it has been cleaned five times, it's ready for a coat of black paint all over. Then a coat of gray paint on about 75% of the surface. When that dries, I would paint the other 25% pink, plus overlap on some of the gray. Distress the parts of the design that stick out the most, plus some of the corners and edges. Then poly seal the entire surface inside and out and return the polished marble to the top. Just my ideas. It's your table. 😇
Normally I love the look of natural wood , but this piece is so unique that I get the impression that the artist that created it wanted it the base painted white or gray like the viens in the marble . I think it would lovely either way .
If you really want to get all paint off use a heat gun and a dental pick. I would paint it. check out painted furniture on pinterest. https://www.facebook.com/groups/stylingforfurniture/
I sympathize withhow much work you've put into it. How about painting it metallic silver, it would look great with the marble!
I would get a can of gold spray paint. . Don't worry about the paint on it or sanding it any more. . Spray it all over 1 time, be sure all the wood is covered. It
will not take it long to dry. . After you are sure it is dry, get a small bottle of umber craft paint ,it will cost about $1.50. Put some of the umber paint on a piece of cotton cloth . Have a cup of water ready. Start rubbing it in the groves of the carving Take your cloth rub after you put in grover. I would use a small paint brush, then rub off the excess with your cloth.. This process will give it a aged effect. It looks like an older piece. If the gold is too bright water down some of the umber paint an gently rub all over the piece. Get you 2 brackets from lowe's in the shape of L or 90 degree angle , metal. Attach to each side of back don't let it show from front now attach to the wall.. Try to hit at least l stud or use molly bolts. These will support the weight. These were usually used in entrance with
a mirror above it. I think you will like this and you won't have to do much more work. Good Luck Wilhelm.m @comcast.net Belle
Enrty way table hard to tell what the wood is. A lot of these were oak or mahogany some walnut ect. Looks to be mass produced likely turn of the century. Could go back to original make it a nice red mahogany or paint it a distressed look. With the nice pinks of the stone a rose wash suggested by someone would look fantastic. I'd say the selling price be $275 to $350 start high can always gone down a bit but never up.
Repaint it is gold or varnish in a darker colour.
Look at this table, it seems like they just enhanced the intricate pieces with some wax.
