Once finished and "cured" can the Paint top be used to roll out dough, etc., as if it were really granite?

I would not recommend using food directly on these paint, sealant finishes. Use parchment paper, a large cutting board or a Silmat. for your dough. First off, it won't be sanitary no matter how much you clean it. I painted mine over a year ago using regular paint and an acrylic sealer and still always use a board or something under food. Even a regular counter should not be used for foods.

Thanks for the info on the Marble Look Paint. However, real granite can be used to roll doughs, etc. It just has to be sanitized before each use. Have done that many times over the years and many cooking shows also use it that way. Thanks.

The problem is with a painted countertop you are limited to the cleaning products you can use on it without damaging it. I have just painted my countertops and I purchased a large bamboo cutting board for rolling and kneading dough on just to be safe. That way I can bleach or what ever the board and keep my counter in great condition. If you make your board with a lip on it to rest against the counter top, it will not shift about when you knead.

You can find food grade top coat finishes. Food grade silicone by Rustolem Walmart. Min Wax also has a product. There are very good food grade top coats. Just do your research. Good luck. SK on Elderberry Sksartell.blogspot.com

I would not. The acidity in the yeast breaks down the finish. The finish is absolutely food safe.
