My Dad was a painter, having owned a few houses in his lifetime. He always suggested a neutral color like "eggshell", not bright white, not too dark, just right to shoe off furniture & accessories. You could always paint one wall a contrasting color, or do wide horizontal stripes...but after looking at the room as fully painted. Most times, we would rearrange the entire room after the fresh neutral...then you go designer!! Good luck.

Look to your closet. Yes, that sounds silly. But the colors you are most comfortable with are the colors you wear. Choose the three most prevalent colors.
