Krylon and Rustoleum have some good paints for plastic outdoor furniture. I have never heard of the spray paint you mentioned. I also think it depends on each individual person how they spray. $9 is high for a can of paint and I believe you can purchase a good paint such as the two I mentioned for less. Good luck

here is oil paint for plastic chairs no prep. work try to see if you can find this https://www.krylon.com/press-room/press-releases/2011/04/krylon-introduces-the-first-brush-on-paint-for-plastic/ maybe order online it is much cheaper than spray cans---any brand oil base paint will work;can't really find any videos showing how to brush paint, but you would do it the same as spraying them ; just clean pieces well then sand them a little with fine grit sand paper, wipe them with the mineral spirits or rubbing/isopropyl alcohol; then paint them with an oil based paint it will take at least 1-2 days to dry completely each coat and a week until the smell dissapates. Tremclad is oil based paint used for painting cars that will work well too but I don't think it will come in bright colorful colors you want. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t21uUXqP1Tw you will need some Mineral Spirits for paint clean-up. Good luck I hope you can find what you need to make your outside pretty & colorful---- the

First things first, scrub down the chairs with a Mr. Clean heavy duty sponge and some type of oxycleaner sprayed on the furniture. I have the Rubbermaid chairs and a love seat that were all speckled with black dots and not really white anymore and that took care of it. They need to be cleaned well before you paint it. There are paints out there for plastic that may not be as expensive, just follow the directions for prep and timing between coats. Welcome to the Hometalk community! If you have any questions about using the site, just ask and any of us will be pleased to help you! There is a tab on the upper section of the window, a little towards the right where you can find all the projects listed by category. Find the one that would go best with what you want to do, click on it and it will show you more categories to define even closer what you want to do, and so on.

Thanks u. Was on the tube today nd thinking about the, b4 painting bit that involves cleaning very well. Wen patience was being handed out I was at the back of the queue. This prep bit is going to be hard.

It would be hard to determine how many. To get a smooth finish several light coats are recommended. Depends how many coats are needed for good coverage. Best way would be to buy one or two cans and paint one chair. Then you would know approximately how many you would need.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

So this chair spraying is going to be a labour for love job. Lots of time nd patience is required. I picked up a few paint brushes today.

Feeling a bit nervous about hand being too heavy with the paint and putting on too much in one go.

Guess it will be trial nd error kind of thing. The end result will be worth it.

    Hi,

Make sure they are clean and dry. Start on the underside . Spray on the Lawn or on newspaper. Spray using sweeping motion about 6" away from item. When you have finished underside and it is dry, you will be good enough to start on the front.
