I am painting a dresser and night stand for a
clients nursery and she is requesting a matt finish. Not sure why she wants a Matt finish I have always waxed my chalk painted pieces. I'm not sure what to use to keep them durable.

I was intrigued by your question so I went searching on the internet and found references to "dead flat varnish," and ultimately came across a link to the Modern Masters' brand on Amazon. It seems a bit pricey but it has really good reviews. With some extra searching, maybe you can find a smaller container or a better price but at least it appears this could be a possible solution for you. http://www.amazon.com/Modern-Masters-DP609-32-Varnish-32-Ounce/dp/B000Z4DYQ8

Thanks for looking for me. I was going to do a search but thought some seasoned chalk painters would have an answer. I'll check the link you posted.

HI Shari. I own Eco Chic Boutique and we sell Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan. If that is the brand you are using it might be as easy as just buffing your piece with some kraft paper or steel wool. You can seal off the pores by rubbing it down. If you have old paper bags or other thing brown kraft paper just crumple it up really well and rub the dry paint down. You can also do the same with real fine steel wool. if you have more questions you can find me at maria@beingecochic.com facebook.com/beingecochic.com Thanks @Shari That was a great questions. Maria would this be durable for a child's room? The pieces are for a nursery and will be getting a lot of use.
