How can I remove the shiny sealant from my slate floor in my foyer?

I don't like the shine, prefer matte. And I may try to change the color of some tiles for a fresh new look.

I'd try lacquer thinner and lots of ventilation.
Stop by a Homedepot or Lowe's paint department and ask them what to do. They can show you what they have and how to do it.
