    Why?

It’s a charming home, with wonderfully organized “clutter”.However, I don’t see navy in ANY

piece of your artwork, decoration, or in your rugs.

Its not an update to just add another color, no matter how popular it might be at the moment. And I doubt you want to do a total overhaul, since your theme color is throughout your space.

Changes I’d make? A small dark red throw draped over one of your beige chairs to connect it to your red sofa, and possibly repainting your kitchen table, but I don’t know what color, I’m embarrassed to say. Or cushions on the chairs to lighten them up.

Change your throw pillows with a Navy covers or just make some with navy colored material. Change the lamp shade and have a throw or blanket on the couch and change the footstool cover to navy. Or paint the wall where the door is; but before you go and paint the wall try some of the ideas above first.

You don't want to make the room too dark.

Pam, why do you want to add navy to your living room? I don't see any other blues or complimentary colors in this space. Also, if you paint the wall behind your TV and cabinet they will totally disappear into the wall, and black and navy do not do anything for each other.

If you really want to add navy, I would suggest you paint another wall, or even the door, but you will need to add some light blue to the room or the compliment of a light peach color somewhere, perhaps as a cover for your ottoman and some scatter cushions, or even a rug on your lovely floor. Just use the pale blue and peach in small amounts, say as part of a pattern, so as not to compete with the navy.

Pam, you will need to have what is referred to as Summer Navy instead of the Navy which is almost Black...which would disappear in your room.

Use Navy on accents! What about painting your black lamp shade navy?

The frame of the mirror could be navy.

Get a Navy and white pillow for the chair.

Put a navy band on the hat with a ribbon flowing down...

Lots of small things you can do!

I would roll up the rug and remove it from the room. Cover the burgundy couch with a white or navy slipcover. Use the throw on the ottoman to cover the light green chair. At this point, you should have most or all of the green and burgundy gone. You are left with beige furniture and wood floors. A great starting point. I'd consider adding a little blue stripe with the grey and white stripe on the wall ?? Then I would take all the artwork off the walls. Look at it and see if you still love it or maybe it needs to be rotated out ? See what accessories can be painted navy. Baskets would be great with the items you have.

I would repaint the black items navy if that is the color scheme you are wanting, as I can't see the navy with the black.

You might want to remove some furniture,in the living room I t’s very crowded, Open it up let it breath. The large ottoman, should go. Maybe if it’s possible, remove all tables, floor lamps, then try rearranging the larger pieces, and only what you need, the sofa, do you need both of bigger chairs? They don’t match. You have 5 tables in the room. The coffee table ( you could paint that blue, maybe not navy that would be too dark, maybe gray?) switch the rugs for a change of pace. The tv stand is way too modern and black. At some point you should change that. Maybe even a dresser from a bedroom, actually that’s what I’ve done myself! I even still keep my sweaters in it. Then for navy accents go with pillows or pillow covers, a gray Afghan, lampshades can be navy, the little table between the big chairs can be repainted navy. Even the coffee table, I mentioned gray, but you could paint the legs navy. Maybe spray paint the planter navy. Also bring in some gold metallics.

The dining table could be repainted, navy or gray, then get the runner in a navy check.

Hi Pam. You have a very nice place. Navy is a beautiful color that goes well with everything! You could paint the lower walls and add chair rail molding. Add some navy pillows, a throw, and other accessories. Simple and effective. Please don't ever match your artwork to the room!

Try some accessories to start, such as a pillow or a picture frame. If you like the look, you can add more. You can also replace some of the black with navy.
