There are many ways to paint clear glass ornaments to personalize them or make them more beautiful. You can paint on either the inside or outside. To paint inside, simply drizzle a bit of paint into the opened top and swirl the paint around. The less paint the more swirl you may get. If you want a sold color, place more paint inside swirl the ornament around and then place upside down over a paper or plastic cup and let drain. You can paint the outside and personalize the ornament by using Sharpies, etc. Alcohol inks also work well. Have fun!
Here's a different option. You can swish a few drops of Mop & Glo inside the ornament then after getting is slowly all over, pour excess back in the bottle, dry excess off the lip, add about a TBSP super fine glitter, roll around, and you will have a beautiful ornament.
Polycrylic or acrylic paint for painting them.
Hello. A lot of crafters place the paint inside the clear glass ornament. Swirled around and empty out any excess. The inexpensive 2 ounce acrylic paints work fine.
Some people do marbling techniques. Traditionally they use a marble any marbling medium with that.
Additionally I have used multipurpose acrylic paints and baked them on when doing decorative glass beverage painting— if your glass ornaments can be baked that could be another option to consider.
Good thing about using acrylic is that it dries fast. Since acrylic is water-based, it is easy to wash off your hands and brushes while it is still wet, though it can be difficult to remove once it’s dried. Acrylic is also mostly non-toxic and water-resistant when it dries.
