Hello Carol; When I redo a home, I ask many questions, and I honestly look closely at what the homeowner has and Loves.

Example: If you have Antiques, neutral colors are always a good thing.

However, I hope that you will go to Home Depot, Etc..

Take any paint chip colors that appeal to you. Bring them home, lay them out. Look at them in artificial lighting as well as in sunlight.

Decide what colors you like and what you want to live with.

Make your home yours!!!! Choose colors that you Love and Enjoy.

I hope that this helps you!!! Take Care!

It depends on the layout of the home. If you have an open floor plan do the same color throughout. If not you can use different shades of the same color to give flow from room to room. Grey is the hot neutral now.

Hi Carol, You can paint the rooms of your home any color you like. Your home is supposed to reflect who YOU are inside -- YOUR personality, YOUR likes, YOUR passions -- so that when someone comes inside they can look around and see YOU reflected though the colors, textures, designs, textiles, and presentation of those representations of YOUR SOUL. Are you dark and mysterious, are you bright and cheery, are you well balanced in your opinions, are you sophisticated or an earthy hippie type? Do you like classical music and the arts, or are you an outdoorsy sporty type, or do you like to cmap, hunt, explore the world? WHO ARE YOU UNDER THE MASK? Your home is meant for YOU to be COMFORTABLE in when you wat or need to get away from the world of work, stress, drama, people ... AND you can paint your rooms plain, or stenciled walls, or multicolored, or geometric designs, or total black with glow in the dark pin stripes if that is what relaxes you and makes you smile when you come in. Nowadays folks aren't worred so much about what everyone else is going to like -- it's not THEIR home -- it is YOUR refuge and place of rest. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but you have written asking for opinions and help. I hope this helps you dig inside yourself and look at decorating ideas on Pinterest that match YOUR PERSONAL STYLE -- the hidden you that you would love to express. Good Luck Carol, and thank you for asking HOMETALK for ideas ;)

if you are not planning to sell in the near future.....paint it how you want it! select 3-4 colors, grab some tester paint and a foam core presentation board. make the foam core into one big paint chip. paint it 1 color...let dry and the move it around the room....the little paint strips may have faded from the display lights. paint it another color.....see if that one is better. no one has ever told me the walls need to be the same color.....

I picked out all my favourite colours which happen to be on the "warm" side of the colour wheel (greens, yellows, light browns) and painted each room according to light conditions (from windows) and usage - but - all colours blend nicely because they are all in the same colour family. I don't care what most people are doing but I LOVE my colour choices and my home is my "happy" place now; also received many compliments.

Take one room at a time and make it yours . . . rather than thinking of painting your entire home.
