Choose your base color and paint your wall. Sometimes, I choose the next lightest paint chip of the base color to sponge. I also like to use a natural sea sponge. I prefer to allow the base to dry at least 30 minutes (use a fan) then, sponge the next color onto a small area and allow it to dry.You want to see the finished product but I like SUBTLE. Actually I have used a clear glaze to cut into the base color or used small amount of white added to base but, then I like to experiment a bit. Try to be deliberate about sponging placement otherwise, your work may look to heavy (I go for a wallpaper feel). This technique has covered awful looking walls for me. An addition of a third lighter base color has helped on some walls (use the same technique as above. While taking your time is important, think about how you want your wall(s) to look. If you know what you want, you can get there.
