How to apply paint on wooden table to make it look old?

I want to paint my table so that the wood gets a look as if it is old.

    Hello Gerardo, To make it look old you need to to apply a darker color paint and then a lighter one over it. Then in different spots like corners and places that normally get wear, you need to lightly sand until some of the color comes thought. You can also put on one color and lightly sand until some of the wood shows.

    The easier ways to make painted furniture look old are some "antiquing" techniques witch include applying dark wax or glaze, and also distressing, which is removing a bit of paint from the edges or areas that wear off naturally over time. You can do it with a sandpaper or wet cloth. These techniques are not hard at all and I encourage you to try.

    chalk paint, it comes in lots of different colors, easy to use, and they are several different brands, Walmart has some, Home Depot, Hobby Lobby and different place or you can even make your own. 1/2 cup of baking soda, 1 cup latex paint, 3 tablespoon of water. I got this recipe from Hometalk, I've not use it yet, but I have used Rustoleum chalk paint

  • Hello Gerardo, I can tell you how to paint your table to look worn with Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint! :)



    It is super easy to paint with Dixie Belle:



    Step one: Clean with White Lightning


    Step two (optional): If the wood might bleed, apply two coats of BOSS


    Step three: Paint one to two coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint, then brush on wax


    Step three: Use Gator Hide for a water resistant finish
