How to remove old dried paint from a ring?
A gold ring has old encrusted paint embedded in the filigree, around a small stone - not sure what kind of paint. How to remove the paint and/or what to soak it in?

When most of the paint is removed or softened you can use a dab of white toothpaste on a damp toothbrush and gently brush the ring. I clean a lot of jewelry with toothpase I sell on Ebay.

Start with Goo Off Or Goo Gone. Better to start of mild and progress to strong.
Place in an old(undrinkable) cup. Fill with boiling water. Let sit, dump and repeat. After a few tries, a toothpick should release paint.
Relax and preserve the past. Much can be removed without destroying it.
Forego "chemical" quick-fixes. Ask how they cleaned their metals.
