there are a couple of methods, 1 is a paint stripping agent, the other involves a heat gun. id do the stripping agent. if you did the chalk or milk paint, you most likely will need to sand those finishes off.

Are you taking about small sections (paint slopped while painting walls) or an entirely painted cabinet?

    • Use Goof-Off for small messes.
    • For entirely painted cabinets you will have a real mess. Remove all doors, drawers, and hardware. Us a paint remover, sandpaper, and get down to original wood to re-stain and finish.
    • Maybe just re-paint to get a new look.
    • Ensure the old cabinets are quality cabinets before going to a lot of work.

  • You can use an orbital sander and sand it off or use a paint stripper like citristrip.

Try using citristrip! It's the best product I've used to strip paint and it's safe for indoor use.
