If you add it to semi-gloss it also makes it less glossy, looks more like chalk paint. I used Kitchen & Bath semi-gloss to paint my neighbors paneling for her, and added 1/2c of baking soda... it didn't make it thicker. If you add 1/2 plaster of paris for the same effect it makes it thicker.
