we really like the color which is not available anymore . Got some color swatches from Home Depot that were close, but, not a match. Bought some sample paint , but it didn't match either. There are chips and stains that need to be touched up. Does anyone have more tips on how to match paint?

If you can get a piece of the color from the wall Home Depot can scan it to get the formula

If you can take a chip of the paint off the wall, you can take it to the paint dept. at your local hardware store or a big box one like Lowes or Home Depot. They can paint match. Since it was painted 18 years ago and has stains, I'd recommend a primer like Kilz for the first coat (maybe 2 coats, depending on the coverage. The walls are probably dry and will absorb the paint. The do 2 coats of your new paint. If you love your color, you will be thrilled when it's redone!

Have you tried going lighter or darker with your samples by adding a lighter shade (or white) or a darker shade? Sometimes when I want a specific color I play with a sample in small containers until I get what I want. Then I paint a craft stick or something else easy to take, and have it color matched.

Paints new formulas are different from the past....18 years?? aren't those walls ready for a redone?? Wow, that might be a great quality paint

Linda is right about the paint matching. You can also have color mixed into Bullseye primer so you only need one coat of it and one of your choice of matte,semi-gloss or glossy paint.Good luck.

Home Depot can match a chip of paint. They use a scanner.
