Before I give an opinion I'd like to know a few things about your floorplan. From what rooms is your kitchen in view? And what colors are predominant in those rooms? You'll have a lot more leeway if your kitchen is not open plan but you'll need to take into consideration all the colors going on around it.

@MaryStLouis you can see a clear view of my living room but it's not an open plan, just a double size doorway between the rooms. The paint color in my living room is called cake battter , a tan, the border has ivory, white gold, grey & black in it, the curtain rods & curtains are ivory , my couch and chairs are black with maple hardwood floors and white trim with black window sashes.

I would go with white rather than ivory.

@Lisa ok, then I think you should have some gold accents and black in some places.

ivory cabinets would be lovely. I painted my kitchen this fall an apple green with black gingham curtains and chef border. Apple green (actually eco green) is a nice; looks nice with wood framed windows. I love the gingham curtains, could use brown. There are so many sources to view for inspiration. this site is divine to play around with: http://www.behr.com/consumer/colors/paint?color=PPU8-5#paint it is a paint selection company; and the colors are not totally true online, but, you can bring up a room similar to yours, and drag the color choices to the wall. Play around with it and try some sample cans before buying a gallon first.

Cool! You can always add some white if you decide to lighten it a bit. This is my go-to green so I'm glad you like it. 😊

A pic would be helpful. I do not like stark white anything, so the cream/ivory or at least a creamy white would be nice.

Lisa, did you try playing around with the paint site; it's a lot of fun and rewarding http://www.behr.com/consumer/colors/paint?color=PPU8-5#paint

Lisa, picking colors can be a bittricky. What I find helps me a lot is to choose your curtains, rugsor shades first and then pull from those, colors for the room. Youwill drive your self crazy trying to find curtains to match your color schemeonce painted. The general rule is to use the color that is the largestproportion in the curtains for your walls. Next choose two othercolors from the curtains and use as you see fit. It will be hard togo wrong, from a decorating standpoint, as your cream colored cupboards will gowith any other color you choose. Keep in mind your personallikes. If you are like me and DO NOT like visual clutter, try touse colors that blend together nicely. If you like pops ofcolor then go with a solid color curtain and bring in at least onecolor from an adjoining room. This helps to make your entire home feellike it flows together, regardless of open or closed concept. Ihope this helps in your decision making process.
