Can I paint an old painted stove fan with copper paint?

That depends on the paint, do a bit of a test. But if you buy copper colored paint, it should work.

You will want to wash your stove fan really well, maybe with TSP. It will be good to get any grease cleaned away before using the paint.

Just be sure that it says metallic copper. I'd use Rustoleum Metallic Copper Spray Paint. Wishing you the best.

Rustoleum 2X spray paint in metallic copper. Several light coats will get you a smooth finish.

Definitely clean it really really well first so there isn't any grease on it. And then make sure the paint is metallic! Rustoleum has a great line of metallic spray paint!

If you’re going to paint it inside and not take it down, you’ll need to build a “plastic paint booth”:

3 - 10x10’ lightweight painter’s plastic tarps.

1- tarp for stove top and floor.

1-2 rolls blue painter’s tape

1- P-100 mask. P-95 minimum.

Tape to ceiling, the 3 tarps in a “C” shape. Tape the corners and to the walls after you’re inside.

Tape the stove-top & floor tarp.

In between coats, let the dust settle before you go out and take a breather.

Metallic paint has come so far with the new formulas. I think you will like the results.

Pick up a can or two from different brands and test them first on similar materials to see how you like it. Different brands turn out differently. It may be tough to get it to look like real copper.

Make sure you use a "high temperature" product so it doesn't explode, smoke or catch fire.

Rustoleum makes high temperature products. and has a copper color. Or go to the Auto store and purchase auto spray paint.
