There is really no simple way. It is all in the prep work. It is tedious, but for best results you can follow the directions on refinishing the cabinets.

Painting Kitchen Cabinets!
Number and remove all doors and drawers with painter's tape. Put all hardware in a sealed container. Clean with TsP then prime and paint with a self leveling paint. If you can, spray paint them. To stain, remove any top coat or cover and then lightly scuff with steel wool, clean with alcohol, then you can stain and add a finish to seal them.

Paint takes time to dry between coats. Stain usually takes longer. Chalk paint dries very fast and can add a second coat in no time.

You will have to lightly sand them so the paint sticks
Hello. I think polyshades might be the product to consider for your refresh need.
Here’s a link to look over the content and see if it’s a product that will meet your needs. It can be applied over existing existing poly finishes without any stripping or sanding. I find reviews and Q&A’s can often direct me towards the correct purchase. Hope this helps.

I've used Polyshades with great results. Plan on two coats. The first coat might show brush strokes but the second coat will blend them in. I've also mixed a small amount of regular minwax stain into the polyshades to get the color I needed. If you do that it will extend the drying time but also gives more working time.
sand, paint, and seal
You will want to paint them, not stain. First clean them well, then use a good primer/sealer. Then paint with a washable kitchen paint. Good luck
Using a sprayer or chalk paint are probably easiest. Either way, the most important step is prep so the paint will stick well.

Hi Maris, the easiest is chalk paint, you just ensure the cabinets are clean and dry, now sanding required.
