I want to make wall stencils of letters written by my husband. Buying a stencil for the wall was very expensive. Does anyone know what machine to buy and what the best material would be? I have painted my walls with a linen technique about 36" wide and 10' tall. I want to stencil the letters not put up vinyl lettering. Mahalo

There is a website www.decalboy.com where you can have your handwriting made into a vinyl decal that can be placed on your wall. Check out their site.

My niece and her husband have a Cricut machine for making vinyl wall or glass clings. These are removable from painted walls or any surface. There are several price points and they have a website. They bought it when the moved into their new home and have beautiful creations on their walls and have sold enough to pay for their machine several times over. www.cricut.com/Machines

If would think buying a machine for just one stencil would be very expensive plus the learning curve of making a stencil. Check etsy.com or post an "in search of "comment on a local buy sell site or craft sight. Someone out there may cut a stencil for a decent price for you. You can also print out what you want your stencil to look like, trace it on to clear contact paper or any sticky back paper. Cut the design out, stick it on your wall and stencil then pull the contact paper away.

I have been looking at the Circut and others but do not know which one would be best for at least 30" wide stencils. I have already bought a number of wall stencils but I have 24 years of love letters and notes. Plus I like to stencil😀

Buy a Silhouette. you don't have to pay additionally for whatever stencil attachment it is you want, which is what makes Cricut so expensive. With Silhouette, you just download whatever stncil/picture, etc, you want from their website for next to nothing and then you have it forever, plus they give you free stencils every month. Check it out and compare.

Is it strong enough to go through the plastic that is used for stencils? I will not have to reuse stencils.

You will have to research that. I have never used it for stencil plastic. To be fair, just compare the two machines online and decide which one is best for you. When I bought my Silhouette Cameo three years ago, it was far superior, in my opinion, to the Cricut at that time. Cricut does have a new machine now (the Explore) that many people are saying works very well with heavier materials. So just get informed and make your decision based on what your needs are. Read what others are saying and if you can, talk to people who have owned both.

Thanks but really need to buy a machine that can cut anything. Need to know if readers have a preference over circuit and silohette

I am going with the silhouette machine. Won't cut as thick but have more options with projects. Mahalo( Thank You) to everyone that helped with this decision.
