I am painting the front hall a grayish purple. The trim is oak, but I want to paint that and brighten up the space. What color white should the trim be? What about the closet doors? Thanks,,,,

I would choose the lighter color of you paint swatch of the grayish purple instead of white. Personally white will be to start against your color choice. If you do not like that then maybe a soft gray would work.

Ohh I like Janet's idea of gray. Add pictures to complement.

If you want to shock, you can go with a yellow with a very light umber hue in it. I know, that's crazy, that's why I suggest a Sand color. Brightening involves painting the doors same color as the trim.

I personally, still like a nice cloud white-classic and compliments any wall color! Light grey would be a second choice...

I usually use an egg shell finish for easy cleaning also. Never a flat paint.
