What color to paint a room to brighten it up and make it appear larger

Lighter colors like cream or light grey make a room look larger. Placing a mirror on the opposite wall from a window will help reflect light. Appropriately sized furniture works well. Monochrome colors in a room and an uncluttered look can also can help.

Doesn’t matter on color so long as it’s a light color. No feature walls either. Ceiling the same color or white. Don’t go with flat paint either. Use at least an eggshell. I used a pale yellow in a metallic. It was a very soft metallic. Just gave it a hint of reflection. It wasnt a small room but walk out so half below ground level. Gave the room some light. A big wall mirror is great when you are done. Don’t use oversized bulky furniture. Keep Decor light and airy.
