What is the best kind of spray paint to use to paint picture frames?

I am changing my decor to lighter colors and have many dark picture frames that I would like to lighten up. Some are wood but others are plastic. What is the best way to paint them and the best product to use?

Rustoleum at one time carried a paint for plastic...haven’t had to use it in a while. Check for availability at the big box diy store,
rustoleum does carry a spray paint for plastic as well as for wood, with many colors to choose from
Go get some chalk paint. Paint over all of them and if you like the new shabby look then sand the edges and have a little dark show through. So easy! Cover with a polycrylic sealer.
Oh and rustoleum chalky is better priced than those big names like Annie Sloan. Half the price!
