This glider was left to me by my grandmother ,who kept it on an enclosed porch. It currently has poly on it and is in great condition. I plan to put it on my semi covered patio and cover when not in use.

Rough the surface with 220 grit, wipe down well, and then coat with Spar urethane. I would suggest at least three coats.

I have a wooden porch swing. For the first 20 years I just used an oil based wood stain and it held up quite well. 5 years ago I decided I would paint it with exterior semi-gloss, and I've been very pleased with the protection provided by both.
