What is the easiest way to remove old vinyl type wallpaper?

I'm not sure how long it's been on our kitchen walls, but it wasn't freshly done when we moved in 23 years ago. I know that spraying the wallpaper with a liquid of sorts won't work because it is waterproof. Thank you in advance.

You should be able to pull the vinyl off and it will leave the paper backing which you could remove by conventional methods. If the vinyl does damage the wallboard behind it, you could borrow/rent a tool which would score the vinyl which would then allow you to then allow you to use whatever liquid you use to penetrate the vinyl. We had vinyl wallpaper and it pulled off without damaging the wall behind it just fine. Good luck.

Find the top edge and pull it downwards. It should come off in one piece, or maybe leave the backing paper only...........

You need to score it and then put a wallpaper stripper liquid on it. The stripper will settle into the holes and soften the old glue. If you follow the directions you should be fine.

in a perfect world, the vinyl will peel off, allowing you to soak off the paper and glue with Dif and/or hot water.

if not, soak the seams, pull, soak, pull, repeat

Try your blow dryer on highest heat setting or a heat gun.
