What type of paint do I use to achieve a ‘weathered/distress’ look

I have a Treddle type desk that I want to paint a distressed black black with white undertone. What type of paint should I use and how should I go about to achieve this look ?

I would use chalk paint... there are lots of different finishes you can achieve by using different types of topcoats and distressing techniques. Annie Sloan is a great brand, and Amazon has quite a few kinds too.
You could use chalk paint or Clay paint and a clear varnish
