Why paint with chalk paint?

Can you please explain the value of using chalk paint versus regular or estapol paint on furniture.

I love chalk paint because, aside for wiping something off, you don't need to prep anything. Chalk paint allows you to paint directly on the furniture without sanding.

I don’t know what an “estapol” paint is. Do you mean enamel?

Chalk paint has to be waxed which wears off and has to be done again, later.

If this is a piece that gets frequent use, I would use the enamel paint and buy it in an eggshell or flat finish.

Chalk Paint-It's just the new trend although it's been around for centuries(Annie Sloan not inventor/creator just good marketing);may be easier/less prep(depends)? but it still needs sealed after, so really same work.Sand up front or seal at end. And you still may need to do sanding/prep if there are damages to furniture unless you want distressed really shabby chic furniture. https://www.hometalk.com/6774013/q-painting-over-polyurethane-furniture Estapol just a brand name other water based polyurethanes are cheaper, water based polys do not yellow like oil based, some quick drying some not. Good primer and paint works well in most cases
