Absolutely! Or, if you like the natural look, you CAN clean your baskets in the sink or bathtub in warm, soapy water. Don't let them soak, just clean them with a brush, rinse, and put somewhere to dry. I am an avid basket collector, and I wash ALL my baskets twice a year this way. Being a natural material, baskets dry out and crack, so these "baths" also help to make them last longer and remain more pliable.
Wicker is very paintable - if that is a word I have painted wicker chairs in the past. I hosed them down to get any dust off of them, let them dry and then spray painted them. they turned out great!
