Can I put a coat of varnish on my laminate flooring to change color?

Laminate flooring is sort of "picture of wood". I don't think it can be restained.

This is an interesting question, I would love to see the answer.

All varnish will do is enhance the original finish, it will not magically "change color" - think of seashells and rocks when you run them under water.

Paint it then seal it if you want to change color, or just get new flooring.

I've now looked into this further and think you may have this as an option! (aka I was wrong lol!) You can only go DARKER in color. Check these out:

You can sand, prime and paint laminate as if it were a solid wood piece of furniture! It's easy to skip the sanding step, because sanding is a drag… but it's especially important with laminate. Because it's often somewhat glossy-looking, and important to sand it down until the finish is very dull before priming.
